FOR VOGUE ITALIA
This shoot was inspired by the idea that not much is needed to create an editorial look. Styling is what matters when setting up an editorial shoot. Its all about having an idea and a theme or a mood. Once you have that, all you need to do is find pieces that work well together and that compliment each other. It helps to look through magazines or Pinterest to find a starting point, but what needs to stand out is your personal style. Alex was perfect for this shoot because of her energy. Her personality and attitude always transcends through every photo. She's creative in her poses and in her style. This entire shoot cost less than $50.
I really wanted this shoot to resemble a Versace Ad. I wanted to emphasize the gold and warm colors that seem to engross the idea of Versace. With that concept in mind, I sought out a head piece with bold patterns and built the look around that. The head wrap that Alex is wearing is actually just a T-shirt from Zara. It had an amazing pattern that I wanted to incorporate in the shoot. The earring came second. I wanted Alex to really accessorize in order to draw people in to the details. The we just found minimal tops and coats that didn't take away from the accessories. Everything just seemed to add up.
